Dwayne DeRosario has energized a respectable but uninspired attack and is the first DC United player since perhaps Jaime Moreno and Christian Gomez in their prime that is a true game changer and match winner. United’s results since his arrival, however, have been equally respectable but still uninspiring, especially at home despite fighting their way [...]
Jaime Moreno came to DC United from Middlesbrough in England in 1996 fully expecting to return one day to the soccer’s big time. Fifteen years later he is finally leaving. But he is leaving with an unmatched legacy as perhaps the best player in the history of Major League Soccer and as one of Washington’s [...]
Chris Wondolowski continued his torrid goal scoring pace with a stunning goal just moments before halftime, following that up with another one early in the second half as the San Jose Earthquakes clinically dismantled futile DC United 2-0. With the win and Kansas City’s 2-1 home loss to Seattle, the Earthquakes clinched a playoff berth. [...]
New coach, some new ideas but the same old results in the same old manner. In what has epitomized DC United’s season throughout, they were punished for their ineffective finishing and costly mistakes as they fell to FC Dallas 3-1 in a physical match throughout. Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman made three magnificent saves in that [...]
DC United ventured into Virginia to test the market for their Open Cup games and were rewarded with a crowd of 2,985 at George Mason University. To top it off, they came away with a 2-0 victory to advance to the Cup quarterfinals. That game will move back to the previous default Open Cup venue [...]
Three of DC United’s most common defensive four in 2009 are on the injured list and this year’s stabilizing international acquisition has joined them. Still, Coach Curt Onalfo has just enough talent left available to cobble together a journeyman back four for tonight’s Open Cup game against FC Dallas.
Julius James should be flanked by [...]

Saturday night’s latest disastrous effort showed that DC United Coach Curt Onalfo has a reasonable, if incomplete, understanding of his roster’s capabilities. “I thought we created some good chances, and in the second half we went straight down the middle and we lost our shape,” said Santino Quaranta. “The second half it seemed like I stood out there the whole time just waiting, waiting, waiting,” he added. “Nothing really came about.”
DC United Head Coach Curt Onalfo came into yesterday’s game against New England Revolution knowing he needed his team to give a better and more controlled effort than last week’s loss against the Kansas City Wizards. In one sense, he got just that. His team held possession for a good majority of the match and [...]
Curt Onalfo’s first move in charge was to bring back former fan favorite Troy Perkins. The move looks great on paper and D.C. United needed a goalkeeper badly, but the acquisition could be bittersweet if Perkins leaves for national team duty this summer. The team still has other glaring holes and did little to address these in today’s MLS SuperDraft.
