DC United widens its chances with improved strategy

Coach Tom Soehn used the 10 day break to drive home the importance of wide play through consistent training and was fortunate to have an opponent well suited to allow his players to grow comfortable with it. DC United runs away with super-reserve match 5-3

DC United strolled to a 4-0 lead over the New York Red Bulls in Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup play-in match, eventually winning 5-3. “It was embarrassing to play a team like that,” said Santino Quaranta about his former team. “We were getting chances like we were playing in a Sunday afternoon league.”
