Washington Kastles Defeat Philadelphia Freedoms, 24-18

On a hot night at the Villanova University Pavilion, the Washington Kastles topped the Philadelphia Freedoms, 24-18.

In the first set of the night, Men’s Doubles, Sam Groth and Treat Huey of the Kastles battled Donald Young and Fabrice Martin to a nine-point tie breaker, won by the Kastles, 5-4.

Madison Brengle of the Kastles beat the Freedoms’ Naomi Broady 5-2 in Women’s Singles, upping the visitors’ lead to 10-6.

In Men’s Singles, Groth’s serve ultimately proved too deadly for Young, and the Kastles took the third set 5-3.

The fourth set of the night went in favor of the Freedoms, with Samantha Crawford and Broady forcing a nine-point tie breaker and beating Brengle and Andreja Klepac 5-4 in Women’s Doubles.

Mixed Doubles pairs Martin and Broady faced Huey and Klepac in the final set of the night. In another nine-point tie breaker, the Kastles duo clinched the win for the five-time defending Mylan WTT champions.
